Today was the day to continue the saga against my enemies in a follow up diary. While I am scribbling my notes; anger swelled inside me. How can it be that I must stand by and let corrupt federal system of justice personnel continue to act illegally; I can't shoot them -- correct? While thinking about such dilemmas and the reality check that going postal never solves the problem --- BAM --- a Taco Bell customer winds up in the news for shooting at a Taco Bell clerk.
NY Daily News story denotes ( here) that a Texas taco lover shot at the manager and then began pulling weapons out of his car; once he was informed that his Beefy Crunchy Burrito went up 50 cents in price.
At first the man shoot at the Taco Bell employees with a BB gun. Then we have to assume he still felt unsatisified; as he returned to his car, pulling out an assault rifle and handgun from his Mitsubishi Eclipse. Fortunately the police arrived before he could do any serious harm; and the Taco Bell customer fleed the scene with the police in chase.
Obviously, this guy had issues. Does one really go to war and/or get postal about a 50 cent price hike on a 99 cent burrito? His name was not disclosed, but most assuredly will be. Not only did he shoot at the Taco Bell employees; where the charges might have been hard to figure over what harm a BB gun could really do. But he escalated the charges; when he shot at police during the car chase. This results in an attempted murder crime; when bullets fly at policeman (and one came so close it knocked out a windshield). He made it to his hotel, SWAT is called in and he surrendered after tear gas was applied.
The NY Daily news denotes evidence that the man was a ticking problem; as the manager, Brian Tillerson, told the San Antonio Express-News that the man had been in about a week before as Tillerson said "He yelled at me then, too."
Taco Bell has been in the news alot lately. Among the many allegations premised in truth or consequences big business battles these days; Taco Bell received national attention in a debate about, whether or not, they used REAL beef in their products (see WSJ Law Blog story ( here)).
We all get angry at times. Is there ever any real justification for taking it out on others? Surely not! The very fact that this guy was going around with multiple guns in his vehicle is clear evidence he was on a mission. But why Taco Bell? I am already wanting the follow up details; to see what the real beef was about. What is it that made this guy so angry in general!
One title I considered -- was --- REAL beef by Taco Bell customer ends in a bang! Now before you seek to lambast me over making implied levity of the issue, consider this;
If he was ready to shoot people over Taco Bell issues;
how worried is the warden about this guy and prison food?
