So, I took just a few pictures during my lunch break today of the university where I work & teach and put them out in the TwitterVerse, and if you're not following me @FOOLeader, you can't see them. ;D Semi - shameless begging over...for now.
I'm noting only 1 "this day in history" item, but it's a whopper! :D Wish a happy 80th birthday to THIS GUY.
May William Shatner live long & prosper, and I'm sure he's not heard that particular greeting at all today. :)
It's time for SPARK! Here's some doggie chuzpah, boys & girls - too cool. :D Am I the only one who things this stuff sounds freakin' awesome? Damn drool... ;D Have any of y'all ever seen one of these "cuties"? You do not want to hear about a couple of them going missing! Finally, talk about feelin' that holy spirit!? I sort of have an appropriate ditty for this story, too!
On with The Rachel Maddow Show!
"Coalition of the Not - So - Willing" - The Arab League's 50 today. Not only would our nation apparently not want be in the driver's seat in activities in Libya, but not a whole lot of Arab League nations aren't real thrilled, either. NATO is going to take more control as well, too. The GOBP thinks President Obama needs to huff & puff more. We've been liberating all these Muslim countries, Mr. Bill Kristol?
Tell that to all those dead soldiers' families.
Our country has a long "storied" history of making not - quite - so merry in Muslim nations l...o...n...g before GWB. Remember those "brown people" George Carlin talked about us bombing in that great bit?! Those "brown people" are Muslims, boys & girls. President Obama's trying really hard to balance helping to put Kodaffy on ice while not looking like he's the one "in charge." That image will not help the rebel cause in Libya at all. Ayman Mohyeldin is an AJ - English correspondent. He wanted to believe President Obama's speech in Cairo, but the 2 - year gap between speech and action is a bit disconcerting to citizens of the Middle East. He thinks most people in the Middle East still think whatever we do in Libya will be for our own self interests.
Information is like a vaccine against fear.
So, the GOBP still acts like little kids do just before they get a shot, but at least kids have the excuse of not understanding that what's being done for them (as temporarily painful as it might be) is good for them. The current crop of the GOBP are just willfully ignorant poo - poo heads.
"How This Ends" - Our promise to not have US troops on the ground in Libya was part of the mandate voted on in the UN. One of our planes did crash today, but the pilots ejected safely. Well, yea, if you're ejecting from a plane, you eventually want your boots on the ground! DUH! George Carlin again, boys & girls...
Gideon Rose is in studio to talk about how he sees activities in Libya ending. Either we're going to change our goals there, or we achieve the initial mission but not back regime change, or we get Kodaffy outta there and then...??? He's not exactly amused at the "happy talk" from the administration. Rachel called the "happy talk" "low expectations." Uh, Rachel, there's a bit of a difference between Iraq & Libya. The citizens of Libya were the instigators of their desire for change; we invaded Iraq.
"It's Not About the Budget" - SD now has the most odious anti - abortion bill in the nation. "Don't get knocked up there, ladies!" is what their Governator signed today. And, of course, there's my fair state in the list of abortion rights at risk; we've got "one up" on you, Wisconsin!! Uh...wait...that's not a good thing in this circumstance. Congress critters have been all over the abortion issue, too, since their promise of jobs jobs jobs during their campaign!
"It's Not About the Budget Part Deux" - Hey, at least you CAN buy booze in Ohio on Sunday; ya' can't in my fair state! Ugh, we are such goobers. KEITH, ARE YOU WATCHING? RACHEL BROUGHT UP THE "SHOW ME YOUR PAPERS" STATE'S TRANSPLANT'S PROGRAM CUTS! :D All these GOBP Governors who are so all - fired concerned over their states' budgets they're willing to make them eve worse! ;D Ezra Klein's in the proverbial house to talk GOBP "budget jitters." He admitted that among most of the beltway press, there is an image is that the GOBP is more concerned about deficits than the Dems are. The same GOBP Governors that want to cut taxes for the rich & corporations want to raise them for the rest of us. We got a little "trickle down" revisit from Ezra, too. Don't "trickle down" on me, and tell me it's raining!
"The Diablo You Don't Know" - Uh, didn't Chris Hayes cover this story the other night? I'm pretty sure he did!
