I was not allowed to move for 12 hours after the procedure, for fear that i would burst the femoral artery, and bleed out. To lie in one position for hours on end, no TV no computer, no Phone, Living hell for a geek ya know. Laying looking at the ceiling, unable to move, but having to cough.
Morphine injections coming very close but not close enough to keep me out of pain, or out of reality. All though I wish they had,
I very rarely complain when I am admitted to this hospital, the food is even good there, and the menus are highly customizable to your tastes. I do not even mind the diabetic, heart healthy diet there. After all, this is where the congressmen, women and senators come for treatment when they are in town.
There is a heated argument going on next door, the hospital is set up in pods, groupings of four rooms on a cul-de-sac like setting, I am in the middle right room, the argument is in the far right room.
The voices are from different parts of the country, sounds like the upper mid west, Minnesota, and Southern, but not deep south more like Bill Clinton, southern without the drawl.
I can hear some (not all) of what is being said, and can hear an urgency in the voices. They are concerned bout the Libyan air strikes. (which had not happened yet by the way)
I am groggy though and At that very moment, I do not remember whether or not we invaded another country. Most of the conversation seemed to surround certain people and the directions those people and the military are headed. And the concern that "We need to reign those boys back in"
Seems these 2 were very concerned that the President listens to too many Pentagon Based consultants and not to the reporting coming out of Congressional Committees.
Now I remember working on contracts and with both the Agency Employees and the congressional personnel. There is a distinct difference. Agency are process driven, and seem to never drive to an end. Congressional are financially and politically driven, always trying to short cut processes to get to the end results.
Anyhow they seemed very concerned that the administration is being strong-armed somehow by the Defense Sector and career military personnel. And were wondering out loud what it would take to "wrestle" the power back into congress and out of the Pentagon.
There were no secret service around so this could have been aides for all I know, but made me think, about the defense industrial complex and the power they really exert over our elected officials.
