Within a couple of minutes two diaries have been posted lamenting Obama’s impending “cave” on the debt ceiling. Both point to the same source a single article in the Wall Street Journal.
President Open to Deal on Debt Cap
But before we repeat the “sky is falling, the sky is falling” of the last couple of days, let’s look at a few important points.
Anyone know who publishes the Wall Street Journal? The Dow Corporation. And who, pray tell owns the Dow Corporation? A company called News Corporation. And what else does New Corporation own? A company many of you are familiar with, Fox News. Yep. Just in case you weren’t aware, Rupert Murdock publishes the Wall Street Journal. And I for one do not believe he is any more creditable in his reporting in the WSJ than he has been on Fox News.
This story is what is often referred to as a floater. The only sources cited in the article are REPUBLICANS. Why? Because it simply isn’t true. There are no Democratic sources cited. Oh wait, I take that back there is the President’s own spokesperson saying they won’t deal. But, hey let’s believe the Republicans because after all, they are so credible, right?
As for those trolls . . . well they are having a fine laugh this morning aren’t they? I can just hear them now. “They bought it. They bought it hook line and sinker. If we keep this up, they will be soooooooooo pissed at Obama, there is no way they will vote in 2012, much less work for the guy. We might not have a candidate worth spit, but who ever we run will win as long as we keep Obama’s base good and pissed off. And, given how easy it is to do, well that shouldn’t be a problem.”
Sadly, they are right.

Jed Lewison offers an investigative piece on the WSJ article that is far better and much more fleshed out than what I did this morning. Please give it a read if you haven't. The link is here:

Also, TomP wrote a beautiful and eloquent retraction of the diary on which I based mine. I learned a lot from reading everyones comments today. But I learned the most from TomP and it wasn't about politics. Thanks Tom.
