Because the Republicans have declared it on us.
There are movements in lots of states to deny unions the right to bargain on behalf of its members. This is class warfare.
The Ryan proposal which would gut medicare for seniors is class warfare. I'm 54 years old and have been contributing my share of taxes for all my life in anticipation of being able to have some kind of health care when I can't work. I've paid for it. Taking it away at this point in my life is class warfare, because I deserve it.
In the past 2 years we've witnessed the bailout of big corporations and Wall Street. Too big to fail, they say. Mortage companies should not automatically be elegible for bailouts when millions of regular citizens are left to flounder and lose their jobs. When a mortgage company goes under, it's just a company. They shouldn't have more rights than a family. This is class warfare.
Letting big Corporations like GE, Exxon Mobil and BP pay no taxes at all is class warfare. Corporations should have to pay their fair share in this country, like they used to. If they don't want to pay taxes they shouldn't be allowed to do business in this country. Besides waging war on the regular people, this is simply unpatriotic.
We have witnessed Corporations outsource American jobs in an unimaginable rate for the past 20 years. They do this and then they take insane hikes in their executive salaries. This is class warfare.
Citizens United is a shot across the bow in the war on the poor and middle class.
After all of the misbehaviour in Wall Street for the past 10 years, nobody has gone to jail or been indicted. Yesterday I saw an 18 year old black kid get a year in jail for breaking into a car and stealing a GPS and $5.00. This is class warfare.
Daily Kos members can add a million examples of the Republican war on the poor and middle class in the comments below, but the reality of it is that war has been declared on the regular man here in the United States. And we are on the defensive. We need to fight back. We need to fight back more than Obama has been willing to go. We need to raise taxes on the rich. We need to raise taxes on corporations. We need to totally close tax loopholes on both. We need to penalize companies that ship jobs overseas.
We need to stand up for America, not special interests.
