I'll say it right up front ....
Johnathon Alter (MSNBC, Political Analyst), is an idiot.
Grrr!
Okay, when Chris Matthews calls you out for making a ridiculous statement, then that is the moment to pause for thought.
I know that it can be difficult, when confronted by TV cameras, lights, and Tweety, to keep a rational thought in your head .... But does Alter have to demonstrate that difficulty quite so readily?
In an exchange where they were discussing "Birtherism" and the far right takeover of the Republican Party, Alter made the tragic error of suggesting that the Democratic Party also has it's looneys.
Notwithstanding the stupidity of the label, the false equivalence was too much even for Matthews.
"What Looneys?" was the pointed response. Very good Chris ... nice and easy. Pushing back really doesn't hurt now does it?
Alter then must have realised his error because he waffled something about "extremists" and "Party Conferences".
So Johnathon, let me help you out here:
Republican extremists believe that our President was born in Kenya
Democratic Extremists even believe that GW Bush was American, they just wish he wasn't.
Republican Extremists would deny a termination even if the woman's life was threatened
Democratic Extremists want women to control their own healthcare.
Republican Extremists want to scrap Medicare, and leave Seniors to die.
Democratic Extremists want Universal Healthcare free at the point of delivery.
Republican Extremists want to crash the US economy and destroy the "full faith and credit" of the United States.
Democratic Extremists would like a balanced budget, but want that funded by all.
Republican Extremists want rich people to contribute nothing, and don't care who suffers in the process.
Even the most Extreme Democrats simply want the ability to pay to be a factor in tax rates.
Republican Extremists want gay sex to be a crime.
Extreme Democrats would like people to freely choose their own partners.
Democratic Extremists would like Constitutional Rights and protections to be upheld.
Republican Extremists, including some on the SCOTUS, appear never to have read the Constitution.
I'm sure I could go on for quite a while, but it's not really necessary. I made my point.
What baffles me is how these fools and charlatans manage to get very well paid for spouting this nonsense, when I have to sit here and explain it to them for free?
At least it was too much for Tweety, so a Hat Tip to him today.
