"I have never wished a man dead, but I have read some obituaries with great pleasure."
Mark Twain
Ah, like clockwork, those that are not for anything, but against all, the Antis, have come out of the woodwork to express their moral superiority over us plebs who are cheering the end of Osama's 10 year game of hide and seek.
I knew this would be a meta heavy day, so here I am pissing the data pool to say why do some people always have this need to poo-poo anything that brings closure to chapters of American history?
I mean, why write a "I'm cheering I am not cheering"? diary As a dude who broke a personal best 1 mile run up Broadway on Sept. 1, 2001, I admit it, I'm a bit hungover today. Know why? Not that Osama bin Laden is swimming with the fishes, but the man who orchestrated the 9-11 attacks is no longer holding the conductor's stick.
Personally, I wanted him in the Hague, but at the end of the day, this chapter is over.
The people who are tripping over themselves to point out they are morally superior to everyone else are the same that will never say what they are for, least someone gets to be Anti against their Anti.
They refuse to let America have one good day, until that day matches perfectly to their very select view of what good is.
So here come the hordes to trample the relief and closure that many in New York felt and expressed in Times Square last night. Pushing each other out of the way to show which is the moral pure, see who can get to the soapbox first and denounce any other citizen who wishes to express their gratitude that the mastermind behind the greatest civilian attack on our soil can no longer bring us harm.
Oh yes my friends, the Antis will lecture us about how base of an animal we are that we got closure and can move on.
Because that is what this is about for the mass majority of Americans, especially among my friends in New York. It's not like we're bathing ourselves in blood and howling for more, which is what these pureolog-handed denouncements are obliquely saying we are doing.
We are not cheering the death, we are cheering the closure.
And I am sorry your purity of being Anti any good news has blinded you from this very fortunate truth.
I am sorry you do not see the silver lining of this historic event offering an optimistic view of the future, healing over the past, and that maybe this outpouring of patriotism was based on the possibility of restoration of hope.
Instead, you used this moment to denounce anyone who does not live in your Ivory Tower of the Highest Moral Fiber.
So continue proving Joe Scarborough correct, I'm gonna continue my day of calling old friends in the Big Apple about how a new day is dawning and how we can move forward and write that next chapter of American history which will hopefully be full of peace and prosperity.
