The Kenosha News has a brief announcement on its web page.
Kenosha County Board Vice Chairman Fred Ekornaas today announced he will challenge state Sen. Robert Wirch, D-Pleasant Prairie, if a recall election is held this summer.
According to Judgepedia he is also a municipal judge in Bristol, WI. Bristol is a large area, low population-density community southwest of the City of Kenosha.
Of perhaps interesting note, of perhaps utter nonsense, is the reaction from the leader of the petition drive to recall Senator Wirch. On their Facebook page is this reply:
Fred Ekornaas is the first contender for Bob Wirch's seat.
(Emphasis added.)
This response might mean nothing. Or it might mean something in the context of rumors circulating in Kenosha County.
These rumors say the GOP will attempt to run a Republican plant in a primary challenge to Senator Wirch. Is this remark by the Recall Wirch leader an inadvertant slip of the tongue? Might we expect a second GOP challenger in Democratic clothing this summer?
Or does it mean that the Recall Wirch leader will, like Kim Simac, run for the office the petition drive made available? That would mean a GOP primary phase for the recall process.
Or is it essentially meaningless? It could just be idle wording. Heck, it probably is idle wording. But forewarned is forearmed.
That the GOP can name an actual person willing to run against Senator Robert Wirch is recent news, that much I can say.
Another thing I can say is, it's never to early to donate. (Ya just know that was coming, eh?)
A new ActBlue page is up for Kossacks. Please donate some Oranges4Wirch.
Thank you.

More fuel for the rumors? Recall Wirch Facebook page refers to a challenger in the Democratic primary.
Who do you think should run against Wirch in the Democratic primary?
