below the fold for the story...
for 36 years, there had been my stepmom. Who was sweet, and kind, and always told my dad to give me some money for a coke or gas. And she isn't here anymore.
She died December 1st, and was buried on their 36th anniversary. He has been alone a lot longer than he's been widowed. In the meantime, he's bought a property where I live, and we've brought down enormous buttloads of antiques, ordered new stuff from wholesalers, and I am now the shopkeeper of all my stepmom's finds. I did need something to do, now didn't I? We put up her picture and business cards on the wall by the front door, in a tasteful way, to try to honor the memory.
Having taken care of me, he now has something else to do- a romance... with a lady he's known 50+ plus years. Might I have a party to plan? It's serious, and he has solicited the approval of me, my mother, and my stepsister. We have all said 'hell yeah', because its so good to see him happy. I believe that she might be happy for both of us.
Just some happy news for the crowd that has usually picked me up from being unhappy...
