Welcome to Press the Face, a Sunday-morning talk show liveblog where you can respond to the Sunday talks with your opinions, support, refutations, or ravings. The larger goal is to provide meaningful accounts of the the shows for those who are unable to watch them, but it's also an opportunity to share our thoughts in real time as armchair spectators of the sport of political discussion.
I started Press the Face because I hoped there were others who, like me, spent Sunday mornings yelling at the tee vee machine--or, more specifically, at the guests (and hosts) of the Sunday talks. My hopes were more than fulfilled when my humble diary was joined by countless boisterous Kossacks gleefully lobbing their not-so-humble opinions at their political targets (and hitting them with impressive accuracy).
My life has changed a lot since I wrote those words in January 2010. My Sunday mornings, once reliable havens of solitude (albeit often lonely) have become filled with caring for my family, participating in community theatre, and enjoying the company of a very special person who will soon become a permanent part of my life. Unbeknownst to my dear readers, I've spent much of the last two years without a tee vee machine to yell at--a combination of economic necessity and social statement--and so I've been the one to rely the most on your comments to keep me apprised of what was transpiring on the Sunday talks.
Activity has waned around here in recent weeks. It's much easier to roll up our sleeves for a bracing political showdown when the opposition party is in office, so perhaps that is a factor. There is also such a thing as "diary fatigue," which can strike both readers and writers (for striking exceptions, see Bill in Portland Maine; WYFP and Pootie diaries).
I refer you to Silly Rabbit, whose reviews of the political week and previews of the Sunday talks form a splendid base from which to leap into the Sunday talks pool. I've no intention of going gentle into that good night, however--I plan to return to writing subject diaries on topics such as local politics, autism, atheism--and indulging in a splashing of snark whenever possible.
Many thanks to all whose participation has made this liveblog such a joy to host. We've made friends here, and we will keep in touch. Goodbye cool world--and hello new world!
Hugs,
Greek Goddess

A reminder about posting: Please scroll through the Comments section to the blockquote containing the title of the show you're commenting on and post your comment under that. This helps to keep the comments from bottlenecking at the top of the diary.
Also, don't forget to record your nominee for the Money Quote under the blockquote comment of each show.
Let us go then, you and I. . .
