Admit it. You thought it was never going to happen. When Meteor Blades speculated that we would have the Daily Kos Photo Cooperative humming by March 1, you thought he was serious. Well, he was, but as so often when you're dealing with multiple layers of technology, content and organization, weeks turn into months. First, we had to figure out how it would work. Then we needed to get some community input on how to categorize the archive.
This time it's for real though. I think we've got it to where all the issues and concerns expressed in the previous threads have been addressed and we can take it for a test drive. So for anyone interested in rummaging around and uploading a few pics to our Smugmug host site, this is the time.
If you'd like to participate, email dkphotocoop at gmail dot com and include your DK user name as well as the name you'd like to have on your watermark. Your watermark name could be your DK user name, your real name, or your relevant photo web site. I will then create your watermark and email you the manual containing login info and everything you need to know about posting your photos.
Once you've read the instructions and feel like you're ready to upload a few of your finest shots into some galleries of your choice, give it a spin. Any difficulties, confusion, suggestions, or complaints (and we'll accept praise too ;-), post it in this thread over the next few days. Your friendly administrative team of kimoconnor, takenote, Land of Enchantment, Meteor Blades and myself will be there to take notes and answer any questions you may have.
Barring any major issue, our plan is to have an official launch next week.
If this is the first you've heard about the Photo Cooperative, I recommend checking out the previous diaries:
