Okay folks, well I wonder if anybody here is old enough to have lived through this feeling before -- this very specific feeling, of having gone out on a limb rhetorically in support of someone you are convinced is on the right side of the issues, someone who has done a great job in Washington and has often spoken up for THE VERY THINGS YOU BELIEVE IN ...
...and he's been accused of this distasteful thing, this personal thing, this embarrassing-to-talk-about thing...
but you have done your damn DUTY as a Democrat, you have mucked up the dinner parties with your independent friends by insisting that your man and his weiner were completely innocent....
I DID NOT HAVE SEX WITH THAT SMARTPHONE, THE IPHONE ....
...and then President Clinton says well, maybe he DID have some kind of sexual relations with that woman, all depending of course on what your definition of IS is, and you find yourself in the disheartening position of having supported the lies of someone you admired.
...and then Governor Spitzer says well, maybe he was Client Number 9 after all, and his wife was good to stand by him.
....and then Representative Weiner says well, he didn't say the photo wasn't HIM, couldnt say really whether it was him or wasn't him, but he didn't send it, he's very clear on that, isn't he, only wasn't it just a day or two ago he seemed absolutely clear that it was not him in the picture....
It's an easy leap from here to the eventual press conference where his brave wife trembles beside him as he announces his resignation. Clinton stuck it out, so to speak. Not sure Weiner will survive this afternoon.
He even points out that somebody played this "prank" because his name is "an easy joke to make." Damn straight, Rep Weiner, and if it were my name I might be making really sure I didn't have any pictures of it on my Iphone, nome sayin?
Let's face it, folks, we definitely have a zipper problem in this party. Care to discuss?
