Sarah Palin says she didn't mess up her history on Paul Revere.
Palin, a paid Fox News contributor, told "Fox News Sunday" that she was correct. She says there were British soldiers in the area for years before Revere's legendary ride, and that he was warning them, as well as his fellow colonists.

I thought it was interesting she showed up the night of the Paul Revere story at Phoenix airport saying she needed to take a break from her vacation.
"It is nice to take a break here and kind of regroup and get back out on the trail and show people America's great historical sites," said Palin.

Maybe she needed a break to revise her revision of history. Course only an elitist would notice.
Maybe you’ve had this happen to you: being accused of being elitist, even if you are the first to graduate from college in your family. Being called liberal or biased because you try to bring facts into the discussion.
Sadly the dumbing down of America is working and anyone who tries to correct misinformation is labeled elitist or liberal.
Sarah Palin knows she can get away with not studying up before she opens her mouth, because unfortunately, most Americans don’t know enough to know she’s wrong.

A new poll gauging American knowledge on a basic question about the nation's history -- “From which country did the United States win its independence?" -- is either good news or bad news, depending on your expectations:
Twenty-six percent of those surveyed did not know that the United States achieved its independence from Great Britain, according to the poll, conducted by the nonprofit Marist Institute for Public Opinion.
Six percent named a different country, including France, China, Japan, Mexico and Spain. Twenty percent said they weren’t sure.
More depressing results -- depending on your expectations -- were found in a 2007 poll conducted by the U.S. Mint.
It showed that only 7 percent of those surveyed could name the first four presidents in order: George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison.
Americans don't know much about history or civics:
Read the Newsweek story
Newsweek Senior Writer Andrew Romano discussed the results on "The Early Show."
Twenty-nine percent of them didn't know the vice-president's name (Joe Biden) and 73 percent had no idea what the U.S. was fighting against during the Cold War (communism).
Co-anchor Erica Hill noted 23 percent of respondents didn't know what Martin Luther King Jr. did (fought for civil rights). Thirty-three percent, she said, didn't know when the Declaration of Independence was adopted (July 4, 1776). And only 37 percent knew there are nine justices on the Supreme Court.

Asked to grade themselves on their knowledge, 89 percent of adults polled believed they could pass a basic test on the American Revolution. However, 83 percent failed the test that covered the underlying beliefs, freedoms, and liberties established during the Revolution. “The disappointing scores clearly indicate a need that ought to be addressed,” notes Dr. Bruce Cole, president and CEO of The American Revolution Center. “This shouldn’t be taken as an indictment of those who took the survey, but rather a wake-up call for all of us.”

Do you need wonder any longer why anyone could like, or entertain voting for, a person who is totally misinformed. Birds of a feather.
