In the wake of ANOTHER so-called sex scandal involving a man doing something stupid (this time not a Republican), maybe we should just stop electing men. They apparently are all incapable of restraining themselves from inappropriate sexual behavior. Gay, straight, religious, secular, young, old, conservative, progressive -- doesn't matter as long as they have a Y chromosome and that testosterone curdling their brains. That is a huge weakness that makes them vulnerable to all sorts of other mischief, including the pursuit of power and money. It's a lot easier to sniff out the female bad apples before they do this level of damage -- think Edwards or Spitzer, and now Weiner, who will probably now shut up about the important issues so he doesn't draw attention to his ashamed self -- I mean, how hard is it to identify a Palin or Bachmann or even a Feinstein? And when was the last time we had a sex scandal involving a woman holding an important public office?
I could link to stories about all the male political sexual transgressions, but why bother? You all know those stories, thanks to our tabloid media.
We'd be a lot better off electing women and not having to listen to this parade of sins by the men we elect. Maybe the media and the blogosphere could then find some time to talk about policy issues.
