We measure so much, in our Western cultures of civilization. It's so often about "What can I get out of this?" It could be about "what can I give into this?"
In a healthy culture, there would be less of this measuring, because it would not be necessary, anymore than the ocean needs to keep track of her tides.
She just IS her tides, they are part of her.
The separation is the killer. The idea of separation. That leads to all of these ideas of measuring and obligation, and so many humans getting caught up into selling the hours of their lives in the pursuit of all of this counting of status, which is really what it is.
What is status? Is that yet another concept needing killing? Another word that could do to be eradicated from the languages of humans?
Because when there is higher and lower status, there is never equal giving back. It just rucks up the whole process and the end results are desolate mountains, mined and destroyed...and dead seas.
So...what is status? That's my question for you here tonight, dear Kossacks, "trolls" and all.
What is status about, what is the significance of status? Is it useful, is it important, do we need it at all? Do we need to redefine it?
Can civilizations that require different sorts of status for different people ever be civilizations that truly and reliably give back the way that has to happen in order for a culture to be sustainable in the long term?
And also, is the idea of status inherent to civilization? Is it possible to have civilization without status? Is status possible without hierarchy? Is hierarchy necessary? Do we have to do it this way?
And, if hierarchy is good sometimes, is it possible to keep it out of places where it is not good? Or must we just work on killing it off?
