WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (KABC) -- Final preparations are under way for Sunday's 41st annual L.A. Pride parade, celebrating the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities.
Organizers expect more than 400,000 people to attend the West Hollywood.
The parade kicks off at 11 a.m. at Santa Monica and Crescent Heights boulevards.
The three-day gay pride festival is already off and running, with events scheduled through the evening.
Figure skating star Johnny Weir will serve as grand marshal for the parade. Weir says he hopes to inspire gay people of all ages.
"I am proud, I'm so happy to be me and so happy for all the things that I'm born with and I need to show that to the world, I need to show them that it's ok to be different. It's cool. It makes you this amazing addition to society," he said.

Ash cloud disrupts NZ flights
Ash from Chile’s dramatic volcano has entered New Zealand air space, forcing Qantas and Jetstar to cancel flights today.
Qantas confirmed it has cancelled 22 flights to and from New Zealand and Tasmania.
A Qantas spokeswoman said all 14 flights in and out of Tasmania on Sunday had been cancelled.
Eight flights between Australia and Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown had also been grounded, she said.
The cancellations affect about 1500 passengers and Qantas is attempting to contact everyone ahead of their scheduled flight.
"We are doing our best to do a call out to everyone that we can," the spokeswoman said.
Jetstar has cancelled a number domestic flights between Christchurch and Auckland, Christchurch and Queenstown, and Auckland and Queenstown today.
It has also cancelled some trans-Tasman flights, between Christchurch and Sydney, Christchurch and Melbourne, and Queenstown and Melbourne.
Air New Zealand has not cancelled or delayed any of its flights. Spokeswoman Tracy Mills said the national carrier did not expect any cancellations to its domestic or international services.

Gays are love's 'revolutionaries' - Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga hailed gays as the "revolutionaries of love" and called for "full equality now" for same-sex couples around the world in a speech in front of hundreds of thousands in Rome.
The US pop diva criticised governments in Eastern Europe and the Middle East for condemning young people to a life of isolation and discrimination and told the EuroPride rally: "We're all from the same DNA. We were just born this way."
"I stand here as a woman of the world and I ask governments, with you, worldwide to facilitate our dream of equality," said the singer, who wore a Versace dress and a green wig and later performed two of her hit singles.
"We're all from the same DNA. We were just born this way," she said from a stage in the Circus Maximus - an ancient arena in the heart of Rome.
"Let us be revolutionaries of love and use our very strong human powers to save lives and encourage unity around the world," she said.
Organisers estimated the size of the crowd at around one million people

This lowland gorilla shares a moment of quiet reflection with a tiny mallard duckling, who seems fairly nonplussed about being in the presence of one of nature's most powerful beasts.
The heart-warming image is among Nature's Best Photography Magazine's wildlife photograph winners for 2010.
