This will be the shortest diary I will probably ever write on Kos. (Gotta get to work.)
I just returned from a vacation in the beautiful state of Idaho.
The scenery was amazing – the time spent there was amazing.
To be able to take time and enjoy the beautiful natural resources of our great country – was amazing.
And ALEC wants to take that all away from every citizen of the United States – for corporate profit!
On Saturday I posted a diary on ALEC’s view on cap and trade.
Today ALEC published this press release.
WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 14, 2011) - The American Legislative Exchange Council applauds the 34 states that have taken measures to demonstrate their disapproval with the onslaught of regulations and restrictions from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The EPA’s policies are economically damaging and will not result in a significant environmental impact. The greenhouse gas regulation alone has the potential to reduce the GDP by $500 billion and increase unemployment by around 2.5 million jobs.
Since January 2011, a total of 22 states have introduced resolutions in opposition to EPA’s plan to regulate greenhouse gases, and 13 of these states have succeeded in adopting the resolution.
ALEC will continue to support the efforts of state legislatures in resisting the EPA’s regulatory agenda. ALEC urges Congress to take the concerns of these states seriously and stop this regulatory train wreck in order to avoid the enormous negative impacts the EPA’s overreaching regulations will have.
And this excerpt from the press release takes the cake
With no regard to economic realities or democratic accountabilities, the EPA has implemented these regulations with very little government oversight.
It should read
ALEC legislators with NO REGARD to the democratic realities and the democratic accountabilities they have to the constituents of their state – who finance their paychecks – are kissing the butts of the corporate sector members of ALEC and we applaud them.
So we have to ask – what is your legislator getting from ALEC private sector members that makes this type of wholesale environmental destruction of America (yes, EPA regulations protect all the America’s) worth it to your ALEC legislator?
REALLY - what are they getting from ALEC private sector members that would cause them to do this?
And we have to ask – what is your legislator getting from ALEC private sector members that makes the destruction of the United States democratic process worth it to them?
REALLY - what kickback are they getting? Don't kid yourself - ALEC legislators are not doing this for free - "free" is not part of the "free market philosphy" of ALEC.
WE MUST get all ALEC legislators out of office over the course of the next two elections.
Come on folks – we have got to do more than just reading blogs and diaries and set up an action plan to get rid of ALEC legislators that are doing the business of ALEC, state legislators who are representing ALEC private sector members and destroying our country.
It's evident the private sector members of ALEC are finding some way to pay ALEC legislators way more than we are to do their bidding. ALEC legislators are corporate shills - not representatives of the people.
So we have to find and elect legislators that will work for us, for the money we pay them.
If you don’t know what ALEC is -
it is time you did – the time to procrastinate is over!!!!
please read this, or this, or this.
