His curiosity undoubtedly piqued by their magnificent green lanyards and the fact that they insisted on holding all of their various Americans for Prosperity events next to NN events, and by the fact that they found it necessary to pick fights with women in hijabs or else crash their way into NN without registering, Sandy on Signal's husband meandered up to the third floor and filched a Right Online packet. Later that night at TexDem's party, he and Sandy passed it around for our enjoyment.
If nothing else, the photocopied black and white agenda (no bag, no swag) forces one to recognize the astonishing difference between a grassroots movement and astroturf. Netroots Nation was attended by 2500 online activists. The agenda was packed with creative and sophisticated tools invented by the citizen journalists of the left.
The seriously anemic Breitbart agenda, (hosted in a handful of rooms on one floor of one hotel occupied by NN guests) is posted for your perusal below the fold. No wonder he has to co-locate his event with NN to get attention.
h/t Sandy on Signal (and her husband)
I have reproduced the AFP agenda minus room numbers to avoid formatting issues.
Please note the utter lameness of the offerings compared to Netoots Nation. Combine that with 45 minute sessions covering topics such as "Facebook 101," and "The Importance of Precinct Activism," and you have a high probability that either paying attendees wasted their money, or they have not been putting much effort into movement-building!
As for development of journalism skills, the 45 minute session on "Investigative Reporting Meets Activism" taught by serial fabricator, James O'Keefe speaks volumes. Building movement depends on building relationship which you simply cannot do through deceit and trickery. The right will continue to rely solely on character assassination because their "movement" is bankrupt.
If we continue to build, to reach out to communities beyond the digital curtain, and to deepen our relationships with one another, we will prevail. All the Koch money in the world cannot stop us.
