Yes I'm afraid I will have to leave the Democratic party behind and vote third party, but I'm not ashamed to do so
Dear Friends:
Thank you very much for visiting my campaign website. As Vermont’s Senator, as one of the most progressive members of Congress and as the longest serving Independent in American history, I am helping to lead the fight against the big money interests in Washington.
At the same time, working with citizens in Vermont and across the country, we are hard at work building a strong grass-roots movement to change our national priorities. As someone who does not accept corporate PAC money, I very much appreciate the help that tens of thousands of Americans have given my campaign.
Without that grassroots support I would not have made it to the Senate.
So we can't get effective people into the senate and congress unless the come under the banner of one or the other main parties?
Really?
Some think of Vermont as some progressive paradise may I remind you:
Welch is only the second Democrat to represent Vermont in the House since 1854.
It is a fairly recent trend, my home county of Essex even voted for George W Bush twice, some may argue successfully that the Republican party has changed beyond recognition, all I can say is I'm happy my fellow Vermonters noticed that detail.
BTW I will also be doing my partisan duty in voting for Peter, mainly because he is firmly in the progressive wing of the party.
As Bernie says it is the efforts of the grassroots that put him where he is today and yes we can still make a difference.
