Good news for Veterans suffering from Gulf War Syndrome in USAToday:
Anti-oxidant supplements can significantly reduce the symptoms of Gulf War Syndrome, suffered by tens of thousands of veterans, according to research to be presented Monday to the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Golomb said the treatments helped veterans with headaches, inability to focus and fatigue after exertion. There were also unexpected benefits, she said, such as fewer symptoms for participants suffering from chronic diarrhea and improved blood pressure levels. She worked with 46 veterans.
If you served during the Persian Gulf War and have not been examined, now would be a good time to start the process. You can get a free exam without registering with the VA and without needing to present any paperwork showing time of service. This exam is based on your recollection of service. What do you have to lose?
Welcome to the Military Monday Open Thread... feel free to drop by and say hello or ask questions of our Military Community Members!
Welcome to this week's open thread.
For those of you wanting the latest updates -
We last heard that our fundraising for Vetwife not only achieved it's final monetary goal, but it helped kick testvet out of the hospital! Thanks llbear for spurring us to finish her off! Better yet, Vetwife's husband is also home from the hospital and the generosity of our community has put a huge smile on his face. Thanks to all who contributed with funds, recommends, tips, and jokes!
To take some stress off our own TexDem and others in the NFTT community, llbear also encouraged us to start making weekly or monthly donations to NNFT. It's a great idea and it's easy to do - you can even set a deadline for the donations to stop. If more of us donated a little amount every month, TexDem would be better able to plan ahead. Spread the word folks - here is the link for making a continuing donation!
Sara R is still working on a quilt for Jester, our Keori's fiancee and wounded marine. He's officially one of us now... just keep your eyes open for Iron Scale Serpent. You can leave a message for his quilt in the comments below - just preface it "For Jester" so that we can sort it out from the other comments!
The floor is yours... and please say hello if you stop by!
