I can't believe this idiot went there. Watch, plus full transcript.
Alan Grayson explains the 5 things you need to be middle class, sparking a full blown meltdown from the Fox Host who doesn't seem to like the idea of America having a middle class very much because it costs too much and who is gonna pay and what do you want, a pony? Unreal.
Fox Host: "All right, joining me now is former congressman Alan Grayson, who is one of the more colorful and controversial Democrat members of the House. Congressman, you recently said there are 5 things needed to be quote 'middle class'. Number one, having a job. Number two, owning a home. Number three, owning a car. Number four, having affordable health care, and number five, a pension. Congressman, where's the pony? Wait a minute, wait a minute, I want a baseball team! Can I have a baseball team, Congressman?"
For real? Dear Fox News host, Fuck You.
More below the fold.
Alan Grayson: "Sorry, do you have a question here?"
(laughter)
Fox Host: "Yeah, the question is, who, whose gonna pay for the house, the car, the pension, the health care, if every American is supposed to have one? Where is the money coming from?"
FREEZE IT RIGHT THERE.
We used to have JOBS, Good Paying JOBS, but the Randian Supermen who were supposed to be the "job creators" decided to get really rich themselves and not pay anyone good wages anymore. You know who is supposed to pay for all that middle class stuff, asshole? ME! But you have to PAY ME a decent living wage, and if the super rich DO NOT and steal all the money themselves, the whole "middle class" idea doesn't work.
Republicans officially are the free lunch party. Taxes, wages, we ain't gonna pay shit. What amazes me is how openly hostile this guy is to the very idea of a middle class, as if it is unimaginable that people who live in America should feel they have a right to a middle class first world standard of living; apparently, that's an entitlement now that rich people refuse to pay for.
Like everything else.
More . . .
(note the "OBAMANOMICS EPIC FAIL" graphic on Fox Business News, not pushing an agenda at all, eh?)
Alan Grayson: "No, I think you misunderstand my point. My point is that people in America, three quarters of us, enjoy a middle class lifestyle, at least for now. And they have those 5 things. A quarter of us don't. And more and more, people are falling out of the middle class and into the lower class in this country, that is the point I was making. I think it's a fact. It's not something to say, it's not even something you can argue about, about a quarter of the country has a net worth of about a thousand dollars."
A fact you can't even argue? You wanna bet?
Fox Host: "Were you just making a point that, that, that there are, there is a certain percentage of the population that has a job? I mean, I get it, sir. We can, we can look at the numbers, in fact, um, 91% of the population has a job. I understand that! So, what's the point? Are programs working or not working?"
Translation: 91% OF YOU PEASANTS HAVE WORK! Isn't that enough? So, what's your point, cause I have this agenda to push?
More . . .
Alan Grayson: "Well, I think we've seen an attack on these programs from the right, the right wants to eliminate medicare, eliminate medicaid, eliminate social security, and also not help people who are out of a job, not help people who are losing their homes or in danger of losing their homes, not help people who are in danger of falling out of the middle class. There is one party that wants to help and there is another party that doesn't care."
Fox Host: "Who is gonna pay for it, sir?
Alan Grayson:"What do you mean by that?"
Fox Host: "I would like to sit at home all day in my backyard and play with my kid, in fact, maybe he shouldn't have to go to school, maybe the government can help him out too, he doesn't even have to go to school cause it won't matter cause he won't need a job, if, under your plan, everyone is gonna get some help from the government every time things go south."
(Absurdity checkpoint #3 reached)
Alan Grayson:"I really don't know what you mean by 'my plan'. I was making an observation about what it takes to be middle class in this country. I wasn't saying that you or I anybody else should pay for it (drowned out . . .)"
Fox Host: "No, but you just said, you just said those on the right are against all the social programs that help for people who need medical care, that help for people whose mortgage seems to be a little bit too high, to help for people who want to buy a car, what do you, who, what, Erp . . ."
(STOP) You can pinpoint the precise moment at 2:29 when the dunce hosting this show gets his mind blown.
Fox Host: "That's socialism, right there! That's, Marxism in fact!"
SOCIALISM HAS BEEN INVOKED! ALL TEABAGGERS MAY NOW SUSPEND REASON AND BE SCARED!
Alan Grayson: "I don't know what you're talking about. The Social Security system and the Medicare system is paid for by people who worked. In fact, it's not the rich because it doesn't come out of capital gains, it doesn't come out of dividends, it comes out of the paychecks of hard working people. That's how we pay for Social Security and Medicare in this country."
(Double false equivalency ALERT)
Fox Host: "You know, unfortunately, 47%, approaching 50% of American households don't pay any Federal Income Tax (NOTE: Neither does Exxon Mobile, GE or Bank of America, but you don't hear Fox bitching about that, do you?) , they don't pitch in, you know the old saying, if too many people are in the cart and not enough people are pulling the cart, the cart stops."
Alan Grayson: "You're talking about the Federal Income Tax. I'm talking about the Social Security Tax."
Fox Host: "Oh, boy!" (Here he goes with the FACTS again!)
Alan Grayson: "Which virtually every working person pays."
Fox Host: "All due respect, Congressman, listen, you're a very wealthy guy, you made a lot of money in a very capitalistic society, everything I'm seeing out of the Obama Administration is moving us away from Capitalism to a more entitlement society, a more socialist like society, that didn't seem to work, and certainly you'd agree with that, at least that, that Capitalism is a great system."
Alan Grayson: "It's been good to me."
Fox Host: "Alright, sir, appreciate having you on, another time maybe when you're a little more animated, have a little bit more of an opinion, I know in the past you have, we'll bring you back."
Alan Grayson: "I'm not short, look, I have no shortage of opinions, I'll tell you that."
Fox Host: "Well bring them out, my friend, that is that this is, this is an opinion show . . . .
I apologize for not finishing the transcript of this video. I punched the wall and have to put ice on my hand for a bit.
By merely mentioning the needs of the middle class Alan Grayson set this agenda pushing billionaire lackey at Fox News into a tirade that exposes everything that SUCKS about the Right Wing.
They refuse to pay for ANYTHING.
They don't give a shit about the middle class, losing your home is losing your pony.
Republicans officially hate the middle class. You are all PEASANTS, and if you feel entitled to a First World America for everyone the Republican answer is "Who is gonna pay for it?"
Seriously?
But tax cuts for the rich! OMG!
Fuck these assholes, callous, heartless, mindless, ideological assholes, toadies for Billionaires and enemies of the working class, each and everyone of them.
And look at the ending of the show! This is an opinion show? Really? Cause it looks dressed up like a fact based financial news network!
FACTS mean NOTHING.
Opinion rules all.
And the opinion spoken by the Mouth of Sauron at Fox News, officially mouthpiece of the Republic party, is this . . .
Rich people REFUSE to pay wages or taxes to maintain a Middle Class. You peasants can go fuck off, you're not getting a pony!
Since when did the American Dream become a pony?
By the way, I officially hate every Republican.
They are INSANE. They don't even understand why America needs a middle class. Pigs.
Peace and love to all
Yours truly, MoT
