I guess it's time to resurrect some "oldie but goody" images after last night. *&^%$#@!

OK, enough of that; let's get SPARKy! I'm patiently waiting for Pat Robertson to blame this stuff on the "Show Me Your Paper's" state's bat$hit racists. I've heard of the concept of a "diet buddy," but I've never heard of this kind of "diet buddy!" That's kind of kewl. :D It turns out that Pirate Rupert isn't the only dangerous carnivore from "down under!" YIKES!! Finally, as a response to this story, I offer the wit & wisdom behind The Book of Mormon. ;D

On with The Rachel Maddow Show!

"Welcome to Austerity in America" - Open top tour buses with kiddies were loving on all the buildings in NYC & wanting waves - cute! A whole mess of kids will go back to school after summer vacation to 3 - day weekends because there's not enough money to keep schools open 5 days a week. Wow, and we're wondering why we're falling behind in math, science, and a whole lot else?!

Some towns are getting rid of their cops??!! The FDA does not regularly screen for deadly EColi because they don't have the coin. Other entities that DO look for that may get funds kiboshed, too. Steve Bennen put the situation perfectly

Welcome to Austerity in America. We can afford tax breaks for millionaires, but can't afford five - day school weeks.
Yep... *&^%$#@!

President Obama's Education Secretary said the school year was too short, school days were too short, etc. Well, THAT'S worked out well. The GOBP doesn't want anyone's taxes to go up a single red cent, and they claim the American people don't want it, either - except when the American people DO want it to the tune of 81% of raising taxes on the super - rich. The poor big corporations can't stomach a tax increase, either. Uh, didn't a whole mess of big corporations like...oh...GENERAL ELECTRIC not pay any taxes last year?! And, the whole memo of corporate tax breaks creating jobs just don't hold the dirty water. Can I get a screen capture of that GOBP elephant in this segment? The more I look at it the more I "like" it because it's too damn perfect. I wonder if Senator Chuck Schumer will tell Rachel the same fibs he told to Keith Olbermann?

"Spill Baby Spill" - We get another segment on the pipeline burst in the Yellowstone River; I previewed Exxon's next blame game in the Countdown diary. ;D 350 people are trying to clean up the mess & probably with as little protection as those trying to clean up after Deepwater Horizon. How deep was that pipeline buried? Well...let's just say someone's using TurdBlossom math to figure that question out.

"Right to Serve [Right Away!]" - DADT has "officially" been repealed, but many are still getting kicked out of the service, and those who DO want back  in are having to wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and... The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals wants the Obama administration to $hit or get off the pot as far as actual implementation! HA! Good on them!! :D

Gay service members still need to keep quiet until our government actually SAYS they will comply. Lt. Colonel Victor Fehrenbach is the "DADT poster child," and he's cautiously optimistic about today's ruling. President Obama, SOD Panetta, and Admiral Mullen can certify repeal TODAY, and the kick outs would stop. Gee, ya' think they'll do that?! *&^%$#@! Lt. Colonel Fehrenbach could still be kicked out. Wow... He's going to retire officially in October with his full rank & benefits.

"They Tell Me He's a Senator From Oklahoma" - Ya' know, you used to be able to commit people to mental institutions who were a danger to themselves & to others. Why hasn't Senator James Inhofe been committed?! The FAA wants the "honorable" Senator to take some remedial flying lessons; he's having NONE of it. So, he's introducing legislation to basically get him out of defensive flying school.

"I'm Sure the Speaker Will See the Light" - We're 23rd in the world in the quality of our bridges & stuff. China has a brand new l...o...n...g shiny bridge you can see from space & was built in a few years. Well, look what they built in 2012! :D The GOBP's not big on teh infrastructure coin. What a damn DAMN shock.

Photobucket

Funding for highways & mass transits will be cut by a third. GOBP against the stimulus are for it when it comes to infrastructure projects in their districts because they create jobs. Eugene Robinson gets crumbling infrastructure duty. Man, I would love for this administration to have the chutzpah idea that Eugene had to look real long & hard to see what districts get infrastructure funds. Don't worry; I ain't holding my breath for the possibility.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
