Watching his press conference makes me proud to be an American and a Democrat. I did get frustrated and I don't like all the concessions he made, but he stood strong at the end.
I was not sure. I hated some of what I read and I was afraid he would agree to a terrible deal. But in my gut, I did not see him as the enemy.
He did the right thing. He said no to Boehner and now Boehner and the Republicans will pay.
Not a long diary, barely more than a comment, but I wanted to be on record.
I'm still all in.
Obama will not balance the budget "on the least of us." Mathew 25 (quoting Jesus Christ.) He will not agree to all cuts with no revenue.
There are things I don't like in any possible deficit deal, but he refused to give up everything. He gave up a lot, but Republicans "would not take yes for an answer."
Hopefully, deficit reduction is put off until 2013 when there is a sane House. Time to make the Rs pay.
Wall Street is going to really pressure the R House members. Campaign contributions will be pulled. And Boehner will go down in history as a big loser, the man who made the nation defualt for ideological reasons.
If you have not seen the press conference, do. President Obama was excellent.
