Congratulations to Kitty Lambert and Cheryle Rudd!!!!!!
A couple from Buffalo will be the first to exchange vows. They be married one second after midnight at Niagara Falls. WBFO
Start spreading the news...
At midnight... Sunday, Cheryle and I -- after more than 12 years together, after eight years of organizing our grassroots effort to win our equality, after building our family of five children and 12 grandchildren -- will at last get to say "I do" under the rainbow-lit Niagara Falls.
I want to be a part of it, New York, New York
I cannot begin to describe the depth of my joy today. My joy at finally being able to walk down the aisle with my partner, the love of my life, with our children and grandchildren by our side cannot be described in words. It is a feeling of exhilaration and relief. It feels as though God is here and smiling down on us. I feel as though everything is right in the world and everything is going to be all right in the future.
We'r gonna make a brand new start of it
As we have been scrambling in the past weeks to plan our wedding, I thought of all of the strangers... in the grocery store, in department stores, and on the street and congratulated us for our wedding and our victory....
It is truly an honor to be the first New York couple to marry.
If I can make it there
I can make it anywhere
But our fight isn't over. As soon as we say, "I do," tonight, we are moving our fight to the rest of the country. Cheryle and I have dedicated ourselves to fighting for the equality of all couples like us who are being denied their right to marry under the so-called Defense of Marriage Act...
We will not back down, we will not go away.
It's up to you, New York, New York
I thought of the stranger who came to me and said
"I thought of my fathers, a gay couple that could not be legally wed despite their love and commitment to one another. How I wish that when I was a child our family had been protected under the law."
And "Congratulations!" to all the other couples who will married Sunday and henceforth in New York!
