As words of bi-partisanship and compromise are bandied about there is one thing we must not forget, this whole crisis is 100% created by the Republicans putting conditions on raising the debt ceiling.
I feel it somehow gets lost in another issue (or non-issue) the Debt itself. I actually understand, many Republicans, especially in the House were elected by a populace that for some reason believes the National Debt is a huge problem. We always say elections have consequences, and those consequences would seem to manifest themselves in budget cuts in some areas we probably would not like. That's politics, that's Democracy, not much we can do there.
But you know when you deal with the budget and its deficits? When the budget process comes up, not when a vital issue to our country's very fiscal security is at stake. They could all vote to approve raising the debt ceiling THIS AFTERNOON if they wanted and they could still cry and plead and politic for their budgets when the time comes. BUT NOT NOW!
I am sorry for this rambling incoherent diary, but I am getting fed up with those on the Right and in the so called center trying to place ANY BLAME on Obama if no deal is made. I have no opinion yet on Obama if a deal is made because there is no such deal and therefore I cannot say Obama sold us down the river or if Obama 11-dimensional Checkmated them.
But no deal is made and we end up in some of ridiculous, completely avoidable default we need only point the finger at one group of people...the REPUBLICANS.
