This will be short and sweet...
If you are one of the folks who like to write diaries to influence people, there's a very basic rule to learn. Yelling at people, demeaning them, scolding them, shaming them works about as well in an online forum as it does in real life. Surprise.
In other words, it is diametrically OPPOSED to what you CLAIM you want: to bring people to your point of view. So are you an ineffective debater, or are you being dishonest about your motives?
Did you ever, in your whole life, convince someone of something by yelling at them, by demeaning them, by calling them names, by impugning their motives? Did such a communication ever in your life result in convincing someone of something?
Didn't think so. So if your tactics DO include insult and belittlement, guess what: you aren't here to convince anyone. You're a CONTROL FREAK who is here to YELL at them.
Want me to listen to your opinion about guns? Don't assume I'm a Neanderthal knuckle-dragging moron and scream at me; I'll simply ignore you. Want me to listen to you about Obama? Don't call me a traitor, don't call me a "professional left winger", don't tell me to get "off the fainting couch".
Let's examine that last one a moment, because that one's DESIGNED to offend.
That's the sort of thing you would NEVER say to someone in real life (not more than once, anyway). So why is it acceptable here? What on Earth do you think someone's reaction will be to being told to "get off the fainting couch"?
They will NEVER listen to you. But perhaps that's OK with you. After all... you said it to piss them off, after all. Didn't you?
Internalize this, all you Internet warriors... If you piss someone off, you will NEVER convince them of anything, and you have poisoned your chances to do so in the future. Maybe it makes you feel good, but that's the end of it.
If that's what you're into, I can suggest a far less harmful outlet for that sort of frustration.
