I just had a thought bubble. I sit and watch these crazed members of the Tea Party/whatever party who are openly discussing the concept that allowing the U.S. to default on payment might be considered a possible positive "wakeup call" to America - or something that they delusionaly think to be at worst acceptable but more likely be a good thing.
At the same time I see polls overwhelmingly against their concepts and as I watch this I (want to) think that maybe - with a bit of hope that we could possibly be witnessing the pivot point of their swing to power ... that possibly pushing for American default may trigger an awakening like the one I think is taking place in Wisconsin (albeit effectively later than it should have come)
More below Squigs....
I believe we are seeing the final side of the swing in Wisconsin. It's been a BAD ride there. Maybe it's not over but I think that there is going to be a stabilization and it's because the crazy finally got the steering wheel and people saw what a really bad thing that was. People were looking for something and finally said "Screw it - give it to the crazy." The minute that happened it was what you would hopefully expect "Holy shit - the crazy has the steering wheel and it's even worse than I thought"
Back to my thesis though - truth is that if a liberal wanted to espouse a position of 'the crazy' they might equally jump on board with the statement of the tea bags - that insane statement of "Shit, just let it default".
Because at this point every poll, every indicator outside of redstate.com tells you that the people will not blame the dems that they will blame the repugs. The polling is severe at this point - I don't even need to link to this - the VAST majority of the people in this country feel that the repugs are driving this bus off the cliff on this one - that there is no "Balance" in a concept which doesn't even attempt to "balance" on both sides of the beam.
In face of that theoretically an opponent would just say "Great - let them run with that, it's going to destroy them in the long run"
But you don't hear a single progressive, left wing or centrist pundit with any voice I am aware of saying this.
I know I don't hear all of the local radio shows but NO ONE in the large left/progressive/center left is saying "Shit, just let it default" even though that would be a winning political strategy - because the numbers say that the 'pugs would get the blame.
You can ask - why is it that Dennis Kucinich, Ed Schultz, Thom Hartman and Paul Krugman aren't out screaming "Just let them do it!!!!" and the answer is ..... we/they aren't looking for this country to fail.
The scumbags on the other side don't care about the country - they care about their repugnant party and who knows what else brainwashing, This should be shoved in their faces. NoOne on this side worth a salt has said "yeah, just let it sink" and countless on their side have said it and are saying it.
The traitors have an (R) next to their names.
