OK, this isn't a diary, but has anyone else noticed that since the senate vote, nobody's talking. There are a ton of senators on the hill, with nothing to do...and silence. No leaks from the negotiations this afternoon, no nothing.
Its quiet, too quiet.
I think the bomb is about to go off...deal or no deal in next two hours.
1:09 PM PT: OK, I'll make this a diary, sort of.
Assume that what we are seeing is the final stages of Obama's Kauki--that he is merely trying to seem like the grown up and show the republicans as the extremists they are (I am not sure this is the case, I'm scared its not).
If Obama is playing chicken, making the republicans look like extremists, what the perfect final endgame? As I see, one last attempt at a deal signed onto by Boehner and McConnel that fails in the house due to the teabaggers. It could even give the progressive caucus a chance to really clear their throat and scream that the deal is unacceptable (Grijalva just did this).
Is this happening? Who the fuck knows. But if it is, this is one serious game of chicken that Obama is playing. If its not...then this is one of the largest defeats of the progressive agenda in a very long time.
