I'm going out on a limb here until a Dakota native picks up the ball.
My credentials are that I was born in Mitchell, South Dakota, which eventually became the homestead of Senator and Presidential candidate George McGovern. My Mom had McGovern as a PoliSci prof at Dakota Wesleyan U in Mitchell. I attended DWU for two years. She also had an opportunity to study art under Oscar Howe at DWU.
I grew up on a small farm in Sanborn County, with half a relatively large lake on the property.
But, my knowledge is ancient history. I haven't been in the state for years, although I have dozens of relatives scattered throughout the state. My relation with them is distant because of my political views, because of my immediate family's political views. Because I have removed myself from the scene I have the luxury of being a liberal.
All I know about the folks below is what I found on the web, on the sites of the SD state legislature and other sites dedicated to policy.
