Some days I feel like I can't get anything accomplished. I wrote a letter to my congressman (Frank Wolf, diehard republican) and also called him on the phone, telling him that I want a clean debt ceiling increase and especially don't want Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid touched, and of course he wrote back to let me know that while he appeciates my input, he's going to vote in lockstep with the tea party dominated republicans. As usual.
In the meantime, while I agree that President Obama is being frustratingly accommodating to these republicans, I don't want him to lose in 2012 because he's the only thing blocking the republicans from completely taking us back to the feudal economy of the medieval era. And I'm afraid that he might lose because all of the people I knew who were so passionate about him in 2008 are disillusioned and saying they're going to stay home and not vote in 2012. I spent 10 minutes trying to convince a man at a Moveon.org meeting that he should at least vote for Obama and could not convince him that there wasn't any difference between voting democrat and republican.
And even though I stayed home and did laundry all day on Monday, I'm still not caught up.
I tidied up this weekend, but after my grandchildren were here for a day, the floor is wall to wall toys.
I vacuumed thoroughly on Friday, but my German shepherd is shedding in clumps, so that effort is nullified.
Let's not even talk about the kitchen.
When I feel like I can't get anything accomplished, it's a good time to play Free Rice. It's always good for minimal self-improvement, and even a few minutes of play can help fill a bowl of rice for some kid in Cambodia.
Now that we have a Daily Kos Free Rice Team, it's more motivating because I know that 42 other Kossacks are playing with me. Right now, with 340,000 grains, we are ranked 305th of all the groups.
If you have a few minutes to spare, please help our team rack up some grains today:
