A friend of mine takes and works his magic on photographs to turn them into works of digital art.
A recent series, entitled Emerge from the Earth, found here: http://johnkgolson.zenfolio.com/... inspired the three sonnets over the curlicue, accompanied by these exceptional works from John Golson, my good friend.
John, like me, never explains his work, rather he is fond of asking: "How does it make you feel?" I think this is a legitimate question for an artist to pose.
Words and Pictures
First,
Creation
For Emerge from the Earth
Before the void was conceived I was here
Waiting patiently, quietly, alone, alone
Khaos is my given name, draw near, no fear
And hear the saga of how order was thrust
Upon unformed clay and mud, crack’d and broken
Molded by the fists of the Sisters of Fate.
Past, Present and Future, their names betoken
The long journey of mankind on a single moon beam
A Past from which no lessons ever learned
A Present ephemeral as forgotten dreams
A Future full of echoes unreturned
None hear, neither questions nor the answers
And so I stand atop the dark foreboding chasm
Go, act, before you become a virtual fantasm.

Then,
Existence
For Emerge from the Earth
Mother says we must behave, we must believe
Those promises she makes are not mere fantasy or lies
Yesterday is nought but dreams and memories
Of the giant sleeping beast who never dies
Today is in the eyes; now and wide awake.
No shadows mar your vibrant view
Of youthful expectation as you overlook
Tomorrow with scant thought for the new
Day as white light ushers in the future,
Mistress of uncertainty and deep purple doubt,
Dance partner of sweet opportunity,
In a crazed and complex maze of doubt.
A world of hope and fear, trapped between
The endless void and that sleeping beast, unseen.

Finally,
Destruction
For Emerge from the Earth
In the fullness of time, time comes to an end
‘Though, in most eyes, there is no end in sight
Khaos has no eyes! Khaos sees no time. For her
There is no time, in her awesome power, in her might
Existence continues ever. Khaos continues
Eternal, ineffable, unformed, uncounted,
Nowhere and everywhere, who can say?
Hard to grasp, mind expanding. Mounted
As she rides across the stark black blank nothing
Khaos rides her charcoal flinty fiery silent steed
Sprays galaxies in her wake as she wheels and turns,
Plants a star; a new, fertile, young, sprouting seed.
And so, as one dies and is thus destroyed
Another is begun, in the dark and formless void
