Thanks to this post at Balloon Juice, we've got a nice rundown of various GOP candidates looking like assholes on the Libya situation. Most of these quotes are from March and April. First, Mitt Romney:
America has been feared sometimes, has been respected, but today, that America is seen as being weak.
We’re following the French into Libya.
Oh horrors. Not the French. Nothing good can come of that.
More fun below.
Michele Bachmann:
Michele Bachmann laced into President Barack Obama at a South Carolina tea party rally Saturday, saying his decision to take military action in Libya was “foolish” and that he’s “not on our side anymore.”
Who's side are you on, Michele?
Here's one I dug up myself--Sarah Palin:[Link to video. Warning: it goes to Conservatives4Palin]:
Palin: It's dodgy, it's dubious...We're not hearing from our President, what is the end game here? And with Gaddafi still in power, if we're not going to oust via killing or capturing, then there is no acceptable end state. It's very disappointing that we didn't hear that commitment from our President. America's interests lie in Gaddafi being ousted, and without that being met, I have to again ask, why in the world will our military might be used according to the U.N. and Arab League desires, and NATO's leadership, in this skirmish or this war, or whatever it is Obama calls it, or doesn't wanna call it.
Yes, it's word salad, but it's an accurate transcript. Note in particular her questioning of NATO's leadership.
Bonus--Rick Santorum:
“Under any score, I don’t know how you could play this worse than this president has,” he said…
Clowns.
