As you may have seen in BiPM's diary this morning, the Netroots Nation auction has officially started. On behalf of my co-chair Beth Becker and all the generous folks who donated items, I’d like to invite you to warm up your bidding paddles and start shopping! It ends next Tuesday so don’t be shy, bid!
We have got some really cool items this year, take a look below at a few of them. And if you donated any items, and I didn’t mention them, go ahead and promote it in the comments. Oh, and that Pub Quiz challenge, see the last item below.
Day of the Dead Votive Holder: Why is a nice person like No One Owns Me donating a skull? Because this timely piece is actually an accent item to celebrate Dias de los Muertas or Halloween. Oh, you’ll be the talk of the neighborhood alright with this item.
St. Louis Gooey Butter Bars: Oh baby. As baker Ilissa Gold (GoldnI) states they are, “an unholy concoction of butter, cream cheese, sugar, and everything else delicious.”
Lunch with Mike Lux and a copy of his book: Did you know that when you have lunch with Mike Lux and then read his book The Progressive Revolution, your political acumen will improve markedly and you will even have better posture?
WaterFire Gondola Ride – if you’re going to Netroots Nation next year in Providence, or just going to visit this city in 2012, then you’ll want to take part in this unique experience of riding a gondola within mere feet of fire while evocative music plays.
Pootie Pad – You know them, you love them, it’s Pootie Pads. Buy this quilted pad filled with catnip and your cat will (finally) be in your debt. Then they can pick up their own hairballs from your rug.
Sonoran Desert Acrylic Painting – I do believe Boran2 has donated to nearly every Netroots Nation auction we have held. This year’s offering, painted specifically for this auction is a beautiful Sonoran Desert landscape.
IAFF Apron – How hot looking will you be in this apron graciously donated by the International Association of Fire Fighters.
Blog Set-Up – Are you ready to be the next Markos or at least let the world know your thoughts on why Landau should win America’s Got Talent over those other finalists? Then grab this great opportunity to have SoapBox help you set up your blog and host it for six months.
And now, the Pub Quiz Challenge:
Team Shock and Awesome has issued a challenge to all other Pub Quiz teams. They have pooled their money and donated a Beer Making Kit to the auction. Oh yeah! Sure they may have come in #11 this year, but they’re number one in our hearts. What say you other Pub Quiz teams? Can you make a donation to the Netroots Nation auction that allows you the opportunity to chant “This is What Democracy Looks Like!” and figuring out ways to rhyme things with Kirby Puckett.
