Lt. Dan Choi pays respect to fallen DADT activist, Leonard Matlovich, November 15, 2010.
This declaration has been made many times over the last few years, but at 12:00:01 am today, it is finally true. President Obama delivered on the promise President Clinton could not in 1993.
As we cheer yet another milestone in this long battle, my thoughts have turned to all the warriors who fought for so many years over so many administrations and unfortunately, didn't live to see this day.
“When I was in the military they gave me a medal for
killing two men and a discharge for loving one.”
—Leonard Matlovich
Gravestone inscription, July 7, 1943 – June 22, 1988
Rest in peace, Leonard, I know you're more at peace tonight than ever.
DADT? Burn in Hell.
And Prop 8, DOMA? You're next.
jpmassar has composed a wonderful series of posts on DADT today. Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4.
