" . . . It would be “foolish” to normalize trade relations with Cuba, (Michelle)Bachmann told a crowd in Iowa, because Hezbollah could soon have “missile sites” there."
From Think Progress
A little research revealed that Bachmann apparently got this idea from a few right wing websites that picked it up from an unsubstantiated story in the Italian newspaper, Corriere del Sera. In Bachmann's world, Iran is equipping Hezbollah with ballistic missiles which Hezbollah plans to place in Cuba to go along with their terrorist training camps. There seems be no evidence that any of what was reported in the right wing blogosphere or what Bachmann said is true. We need to remember, however, that this is the same woman who announced to the world that the HPV virus inoculation was dangerous because some woman told her that her (the unnamed woman's) daughter had gotten the vaccination and had caught a case of mental retardation. We can only assume, I suppose, the Congresswoman Bachmann also had the vaccination.
This story is noteworthy only because there are a remarkable number of people in this country who believe Michelle Bachmann should be president. When the founding fathers were pondering how the country should be governed, Alexander Hamilton argued for a monarchy because he believed that Americans would not be intelligent enough to choose their own leaders. I leave you to draw your own conclusions.
