House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) today said the U.S. House of Representatives will all be voting “NO” on President Barack Obama’s American Jobs Act, even thought they know that letting our countries economy flounder risks a double dip recession, which is what they want.
On September 8, 2011, President Obama gave a speech before a joint session of Congress and the American people saying, “Every proposal in the American Jobs Act (PDF File) have been supported by both Democrats and Republicans (in the past), and everything in the Act will be paid for, everything, ” Obama said in the speech. But since it is proposed by a Democratic President its an automatic “NO”.
The America Jobs Act includes jobs for construction workers, teachers, Veterans, tax cuts for small businesses, tax cuts for the middle class, job training for the unemployed, jobs programs to fix America’s deteriorating roads and bridges.
And as usual, Republicans have said “NO” to all of this. They have no intentions of creating any jobs as long as President Obama is President.
When President Obama first took office, House and Senate republicans voted against EVERY proposed job creating Bill. And now that the House is controlled by Republicans they have NOT proposed a single Bill meant to create any jobs. But they have past spending cuts that have killed more then 1 million jobs. And when the Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-OH) was told in a press briefing that one of his pieces of legislation will cut 700,000 jobs, he callously said “So Be It”.
My own Congressman Joe Heck (R-NV) points to 14 pieces of legislation in a Tweet on his Twitter page, he says they are meant to create jobs, when in fact, they are spending cuts on programs, tax cuts, or regulation cuts.
Republicans have been very clear on slowing the U.S. economic recovery since Obama took office. They said that they hope the Presidents policies fail, then back track by saying we want the Presidents policies to fail, not the United States. But they all know, that if the Presidents policies fail, so will the United States. And they don’t care, all they care about is power and their own jobs, they don’t give 2 cents about the American people.
House Majority Leader Eric Cantor said today that they will not support or even allow the American Jobs Act to come to the floor for a vote, and for anyone who has been paying attention the last few years, then you know that this is their Standard Operating Procedure.
