I'm taking a break right now from DKos, but a couple of exciting things are happening right now (besides the Lions being 5-0, and the Tigers in the ALCS).
Just in case you didn't know...
1) Former Governor Jennifer Granholm has left the board of Dow Chemical, and will be hosting a talk show on Current early next year. She'll be coming on after Countdown with KO.
Granholm is great...I felt like she did a good job as governor during a time when while the rest of the US was in a recession, MI was in a depression, dealing with a GOP Congress and the Worst President Ever for most of her tenure. The fruits of her work are showing now as MI, and Detroit particularly, is making a comeback. As you know, she was shortlisted for both SCOTUS vacancies.
And my 81yo dad loves her, and actually donated substantially to both of her campaigns. Which says a lot, considering he usually votes GOP.
This is kind of the difference right here between the GOP and the Dems. The GOP offers you Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachmann, Nikki Haley. The Dems offer you Nancy Pelosi, Jennifer Granholm, Elizabeth Warren (and I can go on and on...even people I respect you've maybe never even heard of...Debra Bowen, Catherine Cortez Masto, and others). You can go with bimbos or brains.
2) Occupy Detroit is happening on Fri, coinciding with an Obama visit. If you're going to be demonstrating, please be so kind as to occupy all of the 600 block of W. Lafayette, where the Detroit News is located. Detroit News Editorial Page Editor and right wing f-tard Nolan Finley is expecting you anyway, please don't disappoint him.
Like a lot of you, the poor economy (in my case, that and a perfect storm of cosmic bad luck that would leave Franz Kafka convulsing in laughter) has had it's impact on VV. In a parallel universe on Friday, I'm buying pizza (Little Caesars, of course) for everyone who shows up at the Detroit News building, just so you can show Finley how nutty we all are. As for this one, y'all going to have to take a rain check, but better days are coming soon for all of us.
