"WHO'S STREET, OUR STREET!" No, it's NOT your street. It's NOT my street. It's NOT Fox News' street. It's NOT Obama's street. It's everyone's street and that includes people not associated with OWS. Are the cops allowed to keep the streets clear for the other 40 million people in the Metro NYC area that may use Manhattan for uses other than mass protest? Has it become "dishonorable" for the cops to try and keep traffic moving? As a supporter of OWS, I see the message getting way off track. It's now focused around the NYPD's attempt to keep life functioning for the other 40 million people who may use NYC for non mass protest activities while 10,000 protesters think the streets are theirs. As a supporter of OWS, that is the DEMOCRATIC WAY of looking at this issue. The streets are everyone's, including people who don't give a rats ass about OWS. The police are trying to restore some semblance of democracy to NYC while OWS takes a more fascist approach to street ownership. So much for a true democratic movement.
UPDATE: After looking at the comments, all I'd like to add is that OWS is an internet based movement with physical protest tactics that are not very innovative. In fact they are pretty standard and old. Is it possible for OWS to be as innovative in their protest tactics as they've been in their organization and structure?
UPDATE #2: If most of the comments are good representation of OWS protester attitudes , I can see why NYPD has such a large presence at the protests.
