While eating my lunch today, I once again tuned to CNBC because it charges me with energy for my afternoon. There was a very interesting bit on a presentation at an oil industry symposium. One of the presenters recommended downloading the Army and Marine Corps counterinsurgency manual. Apparently, he feels that environmentally conscious Americans are counter insurgents.
If you can stomach it, I do recommend the CNBC piece on their website.

Sorry I cannot make the link function work.
Yet another conference attendee announced that his company was using counter insurgent techniques on PA citizens in matters involving fracking in that state:
Another told attendees that his company has several former military psychological operations, or psy ops specialists on staff, applying their skills in Pennsylvania.
All very fascinating stuff. I always thought that corporations used to at least position themselves as your "friendly"neighbors" and "upstanding members of the community". I always knew the bottom line was everything, but these guys are putting on the camo grease and taking out the counter insurgents next door.
