With the news that the Democratic Party is seeking to yet again commit political suicide and betray its' base for the 2nd time in under six months in pursuit of the bipartisan catfood austerity agenda of the 1%, I feel like I have something that has been brewing for a while to get off of my chest.
The GOP is by no means the Harlem Globetrotters, but the Democratic Party IS the Washington Generals, paid to lose, owned by the same ownership who owns the Globetrotters, as the same banksters and special interests own the GOP Establishment and the Democratic Establishment.
If the banksters own the entire GOP, and they do, then all they have to do is buy 10 Democrats in the Senate and it no longer matters who actually wins these elections, because there will always be a corporatist owned majority in the Senate or in the House of Representatives (thank you, you worthless yellow bellied Blue Dogs)
At this point the only real difference between the GOP and their Dem counterparts is the degree of what type of corporatism they will promote or allow, and it is obvious that the GOP goes to 11 when it comes to the type of corporatism they want, whereas the Dems are content to engage in corporatism in 4th gear, and for that they are branded "socialists" by the full throttle corporatists.
Yes, the GOP to a man is a place where a racist, bigoted, homophobic and xenophobic pack of shameless liars who embarrass America on a daily basis can feel free to air their anti-math, anti-science and anti-intellectual lunacy out loud, no one is denying that, but when elected Democrats look at this gaggle of slackjawed yokels in business suits and see a person who they can negotiate with in good faith, well, then it becomes time to wonder what the hell is wrong with the Democratic party.
I will tell you what, exactly, is wrong with the Democratic party.
It is money.
More below the fold
Democrats have been bribed by the same guys that the GOP has been bribed by.
The only difference between either wing of the corrupt 1 party bankster owned Oligarchy system is that one wing of the new 1 party system is progressive and refuses to be a wholly owned subsidiary of the special interests, and that progressive corner is ignored or vilified in the corporate media and rendered non influential in Congress where the Dem/GOP bribed corporatist perma-majority of Republicans, Blue Dogs and "centrist" Dems always holds all the sway.
So if we vote for Dems they will cave to the GOP EVERYTIME and the GOP will win 98% of what they want.
It is soooo predictable it has created a "voter enthusiasm gap"
But if we don't vote for Dems the GOP will win 100% of what they want and we go right back to the George W. Bush version of governance that we have watched Scott Walker, John Kaisch and Rick Scott deploy, with disastrous results for everyone except the wealthiest 1%.
The special interests own BOTH parties, they are the reason why our powder stays forever dry, the corporate money is the reason why there is always a Lieberman or a Ben Nelson or a Max Baucus or a Tim Geithner to agree with the also bankster owned GOP bloc that screws over 99% of Americans in favor of the wealthiest 1% every. single. time. They call it bi-partisanship in DC. At this point, I call it collusion. Glenn Greenwald aptly termed this the "Rotating Villian" method to how Democrats consistently cave to the GOP in order to achieve the bipartisan solution that the special interests really really want.
This is what the Democratic Party does; it’s who they are. They’re willing to feign support for anything their voters want just as long as there’s no chance that they can pass it. They won control of Congress in the 2006 midterm elections by pretending they wanted to compel an end to the Iraq War and Bush surveillance and interrogation abuses because they knew they would not actually do so; and indeed, once they were given the majority, the Democratic-controlled Congress continued to fund the war without conditions, to legalize Bush’s eavesdropping program, and to do nothing to stop Bush’s habeas and interrogation abuses (“Gosh, what can we do? We just don’t have 60 votes).
The primary tactic in this game is Villain Rotation. They always have a handful of Democratic Senators announce that they will be the ones to deviate this time from the ostensible party position and impede success, but the designated Villain constantly shifts, so the Party itself can claim it supports these measures while an always-changing handful of their members invariably prevent it.
As Democratic Mayors in Oakland, Portland, Atlanta, Chicago and all across America allow the local police to play Riot Gear Hero against unarmed protesters who are decrying our bought and sold political system it becomes clear that the Democratic party is wholly corrupt, save for a few honest men and women who also decry the political ownership of our government by special interests AND act to reform that system. The men who filibuster that reform are corrupt. The men who water down that reform and seek bi-partisanship with the corrupt are themselves corrupt. The corruption is too damn high, and at this point, I demand better kabuki, get me some wine and puppet theater and lets pretend this is Versailles and that there is a divine right to rule brought down to us upon an invisible hand, let us pretend that the water is not unfit to drink and the food is not unfit to eat and that the collapse of our corruption is not down galloping upon us.
I protest for many reasons, but at the head of the monster there is the phenomenal wealth that is being used to bribe our democratically elected officials in both parties, and I don't know how true reform is achieved without confronting this behemoth.
I know what the GOP stands for, they stand for the interests of the super rich and powerful and they will use any means to achieve that end.
I have no idea what the Democratic party stands for anymore. Sure, they talk a good game, but when push comes to shove I don't think the Democratic party stands for ANYTHING, other than the feigned consensus forged between every bribe taking Republican and a growing crowd of bribe taking Democrats. Since 2009 I have seen the Democratic Establishment squander every opportunity to hold the GOP accountable for lying us into Iraq and selling a laundry list of failed ideas that harm the majority of Americans while tremendously benefiting big business and the super rich. Now, the new 2011 version of the Democratic Establishment seems hell bent yet again to commit political suicide for the 2nd time in 6 months in order to achieve the bipartisan collusion with the GOP on behalf of their undying fealty to the special interests who have bribed them in their pursuit of free markets under austerity for all, and while all this takes place before our eyes in the open the media asks me "Why are you protesting? What are your demands?" as if they are blind and can not see the bribery taking place. It is because, obviously, the media is entirely corrupt too.
So today my demand is for real puppet theater, or at the very least better kabuki. If we are damned to bipartisan austerity and free market authoritarianism come hell or high water I demand that the flight to hell at least have a better movie playing.
