It's been an interesting, frustrating, and joyous week for the Occupy movement. NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg has re-energized the movement, either intentionally or unintentionally. (I've become quite the fan of the Starz series, Boss, so I'll take a swing at it and say "intentionally".)
I digress...
Two TV coverage segments have captured my attention over the past few days. The first one is a clip from TDS with Samantha Bee at Zuccotti, pre-park closure and movement eviction. While it's intended to be funny, it presents a side of the story that I, as an outside observer, was unaware of:
So I'd be really curious to know, from anyone on the ground in Zuccotti pre-eviction, is this really how the OWS community was evolving over the past few months?
The second video that really locked in my eyeballs was Rep. Peter King (R-NY) on Anderson Cooper 360 yesterday (Thursday) evening. The 1%ers who have been making their teevee rounds have all started focusing on the D aspect of the DFHs in their midst. And it smells, apparently. In a relatively short segment, King invoked the scatological terms "feces and urine" no less than three times. (You can watch the video for King's verbal diarrhea, but stick around for the Van Jones followup after King's appearance.)
My apologies in advance to anyone offended by Peter King, and for any brain bleaching that may be necessary after watching him.
