So I was thinking about it (always a dangerous thing, that) and now that the tent cities are gone, the Occupy movement needs to enter Phase 2, as has been widely discussed.
So here's my proposal for at least one part of phase 2:
Let's all become lobbyists.
Think about it... It makes perfect sense to do this. Congressritters only listening to lobbyists is the problem, so how do we make them listen to us? By lobbying them. Literally talk directly to them and/or their staffers.
By doing this, it also gives all those (presumably) jobless folks who spent almost 2 months camping out at various Occupy sites something productive to do to carries on the movement. it's time to trade tents for ties (and suits).
We'd have to start companies (preferably ones with legit sounding names, I suppose), but that's where those of us who couldn't camp out or lobby Congressritters come it. WE start the company (it doesn't cost that much), WE donate Suits and ties (and... Um... Pant suits for you ladies? I learned some time ago to not give fashion advice to women!), WE put "our" lobbyists up in hotels, WE pay for their dinners at restaurants.
We could even put videos up online detailing the before and after of the meeting.
And when word gets out that Lobbying Firm X is an Occupy firm? The project just donates and starts another firm!
Can't go to DC? That's fine - you think lobbying doesn't occur in your city too? We can lobby Oakland, New York City, Seattle, etc too.
To me this makes almost too much sense. Your thoughts?
