United Wisconsin has just posted:
United Wisconsin is planning to make an announcement tonight regarding the number of recall signatures collected so far. Be sure to turn in your petition signatures and check your email tonight.
Calling petitions in? Making a big announcement. This has me all tingly with excitement.
Listening to the Ed Schultz radio show (streaming on the computer because in Milwaukee there are only RW screetchers on the radio), there was an annoucement that Mike Tate will be on Schultz's MSNBC show (MSNBC 7 PM Central Time) with a big announcement on the recall.
I'll update as more information becomes available.
Update: Nothing yet on this from the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, but I'll keep checking. Nothing yet in my inbox.
Update #2: H/T to JVolvo for pointing out my miscalculation time for the Ed Show. I posted the time in my area - you're on your own figuring out your own time zone (I always seem to mess that up).
Update #3: Listen to John Nichols on the Tom Hartmann radio show here (a 4 minute segment - just click the play button) for his thinking on the announcement.
Update #4: Just checked my inbox again. No email yet. I can't stand the wait!
Update #5: Nothing further from United Wisconsin and nothing in my inbox. The wait is killing me.
BIG UPDATE: Sorry about the caps, but I promised Phil S 33 that I would capitalize it. I just received the following email from United Wisconsin:
Dear Sue,
This number will be released to the public soon, but as supporter of United Wisconsin, we wanted you to be among the first to know - you collected over 300,000 signatures to recall Scott Walker in the first 12 days!
The energy and enthusiasm for this recall has been incredible. Over 300,000 signatures in 12 days – that is over 1,040 signatures an hour!
Scott Walker has taken to the airwaves, supported by millions in corporate cash, to defend his record of job loss and full-scale assault on Wisconsin's institutions and values. In all 72 counties, people are seeing through Walker's deceptions and are moving to take back our state.
This is an amazing accomplishment, and we need you to keep this grassroots movement going - we have a long way to go before Walker is out of office.
Please visit our website today to download the petition to collect more signatures, sign up to volunteer, get United Wisconsin signs, stickers and t-shirts, and make a contribution to help fuel our efforts for the coming weeks and months.
Yahoo! I'll post the official announcement when Mike Tate makes it on the Ed Show on MSNBC which is airing now.
If you have a couple of bucks, please consider a donation to United Wisconsin. Thanks for your support.
Official Update: Of course, Ed kept the story until the end of his show. Mike Tate, Chairman of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, has made the official annoucement.
Final Update: United Wisconsin has a nice story up on the announcement along with some pictures. Worth a visit.
Thanks for all the interest and support. Kossacks rock!
