Like many readers of this site, I've been disappointed by the Obama administration's insistence on finding common ground with the Republican Party instead of with the Democratic base, and outright appalled by its continuation of Bush-Cheney policies on secrecy, surveillance, and indefinite detention. But I little dreamed that President Obama could actually be coordinating activities with the former fourth branch of the federal government himself. If nothing else, I'd've hoped he would have had better sense than to appear at a public event with his former adversary during the long run-up to the Presidential election.
Yesterday, it seems, they did just that. Photographic evidence below the fold.
Here's the President in a surprise appearance yesterday in Ciudad Vieja, Guatemala, of all places. He took some time to participate in a local parade for the Día del Diablo, when the Devil is symbolically repudiated in preparation for the Christmas season. But speaking of the Devil, who else was in attendance?
It's none other than Richard B. Cheney! Seen here at far right, naturally enough, he's dancing in the street with our Democratic President--perhaps more vigorously than his cardiologist might recommend--while a group of lobbyists and robber barons look on in approval.
What are they up to?
