This is a relatively quick query diary: Has anyone ever heard of (or experienced themselves) not being able to open an account at a bank because one has previously declared personal bankruptcy?
I had never heard of such a thing, but an acquaintance insists that they have. Their friend has persuaded them to cash the friend's paychecks and deposit them into their account and pay the friend's bills with the money, all because the friend has declared bankruptcy and cannot open a bank account. The whole thing sounds fishy to me, like the person is trying to hide income, but my acquaintance insists that these are just normal paychecks, and the person is a good friend in need of help. Thoughts?
