I was adopted and raised by very abusive parents and spent some time as a child institutionalized. I am grateful that my biological mother did not have an abortion. I am grateful for every day, even the worst days of my life. It's a gift. The whole thing, all of it is a gift. My adoptive parents were the products of history and I forgave them long ago.
I truly believe we are living in a time of revolution. People are finally starting to talk to each other, all over the world and we are sharing wisdom and I feel in my gut that we actually have a chance moving off of this inherited trajectory towards extinction. 2012 will be a time where there will be many shifts in the collective psyche. I used to think that idea was new age superstitious nonsense, but now I can see it and feel it and know it to be self evident. I'm excited about this new age of enlightenment we are all now entering into. So long as each one of us begins within, we might just stand a chance of leaving this world as a place where the next generation will be able to occupy it perhaps more peacefully than we did or those who went before us did. I don't think my optimism is foolish, but if it turns out to be foolish I'll keep my optimism anyway. If what I hope for in the future is not realistic, then I will keep working to make it realistic. I know that so many of you feel the same way.
