How can you combine a passion for music, political thought and a wicked, offbase sense of humor in a fun, but challenging way? Then it hit me - "theme music" - what song would you use if you were coming up with a theme song for say, Newt Gingrich (an easy one), or President Obama, or Dick Cheney, or anyone of the dozens of easily caricatured misfits who are our "leaders" these days?
Pick a Presidential candidate, or a Koch brother, or some bombastic Congressperson (Maxine Waters? Bernie Sanders? Barney Frank? Eric Cantor?) or some other public figure who you think deserves a musical "salute" and then post it.
To get things started here are three from the left & three from the right.
To post a video, go to youtube - find your tune - and while it is playing right click your mouse - then select "Copy embed html" - go back to your Kos comment and select "paste".
Here are my six gratuitious picks, now you give it a shot.
Good hunting and I hope you have fun.
Lionlaw/Bob
From the Right:
Newt Gingrich - Kanye West - Can't tell me nothin'
Dick Cheney - Fear - Let's have a war
President Bush - XTC - Mayor of Simpleton
From the Left:
Anthony Weiner - Beastie Boys - No Sleep til Brooklyn
Eric Holder - Social Distortion - Machine Gun Blues (runner up Mexicali Blues - Grateful Dead) - For his fine work in covering up the Fast & Furious scandal.
President Obama - Talk Talk - Talk Talk
Also, before I sign off - It's been a while since, in my role as on of Kos' rare GOP members, I've posted anything but "comments", but I've got to say I was inspired by a fantastic post by "Triv33". They challenged Kossacks to come up with their favorite 1970's tunes. And some of what the Kos readership was just amazing.
