It seems that I am receiving at least 10 emails on each of my accounts every day requesting money. Clearly they are requests from democrats, my party and Move on, and the likes of them, plus they seem to be in a constant emergency for me to kick in at least five bucks to meet a goal.
I am having issues with this. I don't have extra money to donate to anybody. I live on a fixed income. I know there are a lot of people like me out there and they don't have money to donate either.
In fact, every time I get a plea for 5 bucks or 100 bucks to donate to a candidate, it makes me want to throw up. In these times with this economy and where any extra money seems to be eaten up by an emergency, what are they thinking?
Is it wrong for me to expect that those who have money to donate to campaign financing and who want to will do the job for those who can't afford it?
It's kind of like going to church and putting money in the plate. It's nice if you can do it, but if you can't are you going to get a dirty look? Will you be told that you can't come back? I don't know cause I don't go to church but it's like the same kind of thing for me. If you are struggling to meet your bills and are just making it, is it fair for anyone to be asking you to donate money for any cause?
Just to let those hopeful candidates that write me often to donate to their campaigns, I don't even open up your message anymore I just delete it. I don't feel guilty either, I feel like I'd rather eat or buy medication than back your advertising.
It's really getting depressing.
