MSNBC can get plenty wrong but they also get a few things right. I was very excited a couple of years ago when they were smart enough to give Rachel Maddow her own show, and last year they were smart enough to give Chris Hayes, a regular fill-in host for Rachel, his own show.
They're continuing to get it right by announcing that effective February 4th, Melissa Harris-Perry will host her own show folloing "Up" with Chris Hayes. The show's title has yet to be determined.
Melissa Harris-Perry: MSNBC's Newest Host
MSNBC contributor and political analyst Melissa Harris-Perry will host her own show for the network starting in February.
Harris-Perry tweeted the news on Thursday, and wrote that her new show will follow Chris Hayes' weekend program, "Up With Chris." The new show, which does not yet have a title, will air on Saturday and Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The show will debut on Saturday, February 4.
Perry, who has been an increasingly regular fill in for Rachel (fueling speculation and hopes from many here at dkos that she was being groomed for her own show) is a Professor of Political Science at Tulane and before that, Princeton. She has also been a regular contributor to The Nation. She's been a frequent guest on all of the MSNBC prime time shows...Ed Schultz, Lawrence O'Donnell, Rachel.
