Everyone can see that President Obama and the Democrats were setting up the Republicans for deliberately hurting the country by filibustering legislation and appointees, so the desperately needed work of the nation wouldn't get done. The recess appointments the president made this week were part of that strategy. Now, Democratic Senator Menendez from New Jersey is undercutting this Key Obama/Democratic strategy by holding up the confirmation of a judge nominated by the president.
The Republicans will now claim that holding up the Presidents nominations was "Bipartisan"! And we've all seen how the media will jump on the false equivalency band wagon and go along with the "Bipartisan" Republican claim. I firmly believe that this is a big gift to the Republican presidential candidates, and to Republicans running in the congress.
There are going to many very close races this fall, including the presidential race, and the last thing we need is Democratic Senators deliberately undercutting key strategies that will get Democrats elected.
"fromer" has written a diary explaining why Menendez is doing this.
Menendez holds up a judge.
Go read that diary, Rec it, and then go to the link to Senator Menendez's office and tell him you will support a primary candidate against him if he doesn't stop hurting the Democratic party and helping the Republicans.
Here's the link to his office:
